Overall Purpose: Aerie pharmaceutical, a clinical stage Pharmaceutical start up in athlone are looking for a Technical Training Specialist to join their team. The Technical Specialist (Trainer) provides lead training support to the Athlone site Operations team through the build and implementation of a technical training and development plan for Operations and other personnel. This will include collaborating with leaders and members of the Aerie team to assess training needs, developing training materials (in partnership with internal and external experts) and delivery of training across Safety, GMP, Operations and Technical areas. The Technical Trainer will also lead site preparation for regulatory inspection from a training perspective. The Technical Specialist (Trainer) will report to the Manufacturing Manager. Essential Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: Works with manufacturing and quality colleagues as part of an Operations team whose shared goal is to realise the safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives of the site. Prioritises safety and is diligent in the use of all appropriate safety tools – champions safe working always. Leads the assessment of training needs in Operations for manufacturing and technical personnel by working with those personnel and their leaders. Prioritises training needs based on safety first followed by quality and then delivery (process, equipment, systems of work. Develops bespoke training programs and courses to fit the requirements of the Operations department. Select, manage and evaluate the vendors required to implement the training and development initiatives. Become the learning SME and Training Partner for Aerie Operations, to enable the managers and their teams to become self-sufficient in managing their day-to-day training tasks, by providing expertise, knowledge and being able to show the benefits of training. Support leaders and SMEs in the development of working templates (SOPs, standard work, MBRs, maintenance routines, etc.) that will reduce the training burden because they are designed with team member ease of use in mind. Assists departments in scheduling training activities and auditing compliance of training against the established schedules and curriculum. Develop and deliver Trainer the Trainer course and its related certification for the identified site internal trainers. Support the design of capability matrices and training curricula for all roles within each team, ensure they’re fully documented and/or documented in the LMS system when it is deployed. Ensure all training and training assessment activity is documented to GMP standards and is always ready to be audited by regulatory agencies (Quality, Safety, Financial, etc.). Skills/Knowledge Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience within pharmaceutical operations which will be ideally in a manufacturing or technical role with at least three years’ experience working in a sterile operations area. Proficiency communicating and collaborating at a variety of levels, coupled with excellent organization and planning skills. Strong understanding of training systems and the documentation of training requirements within the pharmaceutical industry and has experience of engagement in regulatory audits. Very strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to impactfully deliver training to colleagues. Ability to develop excellent training materials or coaches SMEs in the development of training materials of the highest standard. Education Required : Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Science/GMP or equivalent. Experience Required: At least 5 years relevant experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years’ experience in a sterile operations role. Ideally will have coordinated or lead training activities or have played a significant role in development and delivery of technical & operations training to personnel in a pharma manufacturing organisation.
