County Westmeath, the Lake County, is situated in the heart of Ireland, and is rich in arts, culture, heritage and natural amenities. The county has two Municipal Districts, Mullingar and Athlone, through which many of the local services are delivered by Westmeath County Council. A vacancy now exists for the position of Chief Fire Officer within the Local Authority. The successful candidate will manage and administer an efficient and effective Fire Service in accordance with the Fire Service Acts and associated legislation applicable to the Fire Service. S/he will also have responsibility for the management and administration of Westmeath County Council Fire and Emergency Service, including the Major Emergency Plan. S/he will also have responsibility for strategic planning and the implementation of any associated required change throughout Westmeath County Council Fire and Emergency Services.
