Description

An EHS Engineer is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Athlone based client. Please contact Tom Devaney for more information. THE ROLE: 1.Deputising for EHS Manager. * Responding to site incidents and supporting investigations where required. * Deputising in meetings where EHS attendance is required. * Managing the EHS compliance to all relevant legislation, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. * Authorise Permits to Work on site. 2. Lead all activities related to Risk Management. * Driving continuous improvement to reduce risks on site. * Manage training, SOP's, document templates related to risk management, including general and equipment risk assessment. * Manage the site risk assessment schedule. * Carry out High Hazard assessments (eg working at height, LOTO etc), capture findings and drive actions to closure. * Manage site fire risk assessments. * Ensuring that any actions arising from assessments are suitably tracked to closure. * Support site chemical risk program where required. * Support the site ergonomic risk program where required. 3. Support the site audit program. * Lead departmental Integrated Audits and support site legislative audits. * Support external BSI audits to maintain compliance to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. * Support any other external EHS audit for the site eg HSE. * Close gaps on audits by implementing process, controls or projects. * Support the closure of audit findings. 4. Lead all activities relating to EHS Training. * Manage site EHS Training program. * Deliver training to employees as per schedule. * Develop / update EHS training packages in accordance with legislative requirements, where necessary. * Develop competency assessments to support training packages to demonstrate understanding of subject matter, where necessary. * Deliver EHS induction package to all new starters. 5. Manage processes related to Management of Change. * Ensure process communicated effectively across site. * Improve process to ensure risk is minimised during change. * Arrange regular reviews to assess new change and completed change requests. 6 Maintain EHS compliance to both corporate and legislative requirements. * Monitor legal changes through external portal and ensure these are rolled out where required. * Carry out audits and inspections to ensure site meets compliance requirements. * Educate staff on compliance requirements. * Investigation and deviations and implement improvements. * Responsible for ensuring compliance to key EHS Management Standards. 7. Support the site sustainability and environmental management program. * Attend meetings where necessary. * Support projects which will enable the site to meet its water, energy and waste goals. * Ensure that EHS actions for sustainability improvements are closed on time. 8. Ensure EHS requirements have been considered for new projects / installations. * Review EHS requirements for new projects. * Liaise with Project Engineering and ensure that UK legislations and EHS standards are being met for all new projects and changes to current processes. * Representing EHS at project meetings. 9. Other Responsibilities. * Support other EHS initiatives and projects as they arise. * Manage site Security team through an external Security provider. * Engage with site EHS Champions. * Support EHS promotion activities. * Support site Safety Survey and any associated actions. * Create and implement engagement initiatives which improve safety of employees. REQUIREMENTS: * NEBOSH General Certificate preferred or similar Safety qualification essential. * Engineering skills / qualifications is an advantage. * Environmental Legislation Awareness is an advantage. * Good interpersonal, communication, prioritisations and organisational skills. * Communicates effectively in written and oral formats with peers, and others at varying levels within own organisation and external agencies. * Self-driven to achieve objectives. * Good Analytical Skills. * Leadership skills- Ability to lead teams and participates on cross-functional teams. * Technical Expertise - Provides guidance and technical knowledge to peer groups and employees as appropriate. * Project planning, programme development and deployment skills. * Incident Investigation and incident management. * Auditing skills. * Collate and analyse data to make effective improvements.
