Description

The Office of Public Works (OPW) is a key service provider to the Government managing the Government’s estate portfolio, maintaining and presenting Ireland’s built heritage and managing Ireland’s flood risk. The OPW carries out numerous initiatives and undertakes specific work practices to conserve and promote biodiversity across all areas of property management, heritage services, and flood risk management.  Reporting to the Head of Heritage & Capital Works Delivery (Assistant Secretary General), the Biodiversity Officer will be responsible for providing technical advice and support to a range of internal stakeholders in the delivery of agreed biodiversity-related work programmes ensuring that legislative and strategic biodiversity actions are prioritised. They will work closely with colleagues across the organisation in the delivery of the government’s commitments under current and forthcoming legislation and guidance relating to biodiversity. Candidates must have: ·       A qualification at minimum level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) in a subject relevant to biodiversity including but not limited to environmental science, ecology, earth/natural sciences, zoology, botany, or natural resources management; with at least five years relevant post qualification experience.
