Structural Design Engineer. Meath. €Neg. Our client is a leading manufacturer of concrete products in the UK and Ireland. They specialise in pre-stressed and precast concrete products, including concrete storage tanks, bridge beams, culverts, retaining walls, A-frame buildings, tunnel segments and a range of domestic concrete products for waste water treatment and rainwater harvesting. Due to continuing growth and expansion, they seek a Structural Design Engineer to join their team in Meath. Requirements. Structural/Civil engineering background, with a minimum of 2 - 4 years’ experience, ideally with the intention of achieving chartered status in the near future. Work Activities & Responsibilities. • Production of drawings, reports, calculations, and structural specifications, based on the designs according to project requirements defined in the work program and design statement. • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues and build effective working relationships while taking ownership and responsibility for designated projects. • Working knowledge of AutoCad and Eurocodes along with excellent IT skills including Microsoft packages. • Experience with developing 3D construction models using Tekla software would be advantageous, with knowledge of working within a BIM environment. • Work to strict deadlines, with excellent problem solving skills, if issues or difficulties occur. • Self-motivated and meticulous, you must also have the ability to prioritise your workload effectively. • Possess excellent and proven organisation, planning and time management skills, a flexible approach and the ability to work on your own initiative. • Experience designing reinforced concrete structures or precast concrete structures along with concrete panels, columns, beams and modular products, would be advantageous. • 2-4 years post graduate experience within a structural environment and ideally working towards achieving a chartered status. • Prepare alternative designs and temporary works designs, for ongoing projects. • Willingness to develop commercial acumen, in addition to technical design skills as part of your commitment to ongoing self-improvement as part of your CPD. Skills & Qualities • Degree qualified in Structural/Civil Engineering Degree (or equivalent) with a minimum of two years’ post graduate experience. • Demonstrated mathematical and technical skills. • Ability to think methodically, to design, plan and manage projects. • Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities. • Excellent verbal and written communication & interpersonal skills. • Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate. • Ability to work under pressure, balance priorities, and meet strict deadlines is essential and being highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges.
