SUMMARY OF ROLE: The Quality Control Officer reports to the Technical Manager and supports the Quality team in relation to production and other areas of the business. The successful candidate will liaise with Production Managers, Procurement and other relevant individuals as needed. This is a permanent full time position with opportunities for progression. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Carry out product inspections on all incoming product and ensure all produce meets the required specification for weight, temperature, etc. • Communicate product quality with suppliers and site management. • Monitoring and reporting of quality standards to site management. • Liaise with production and planning with regards to customer requirements. • Complete calibration control and temperature control checks as per company SOP. • Recording of shelf life inspections. • Control of non-conforming product, including placing on hold, agreement of percentage rejection, review and release as appropriate. • Logging and trending of customer complaints, supplier performance and waste. • Carry out hygiene/GMP audits. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position within the food manufacturing industry. • Third level Food Science qualification or similar relevant qualification. • Proficient in word/excel/trend analysis. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel. • Good written and verbal communication skills, able to deal with internal customers and external suppliers. • Decisive, good communicator, ability to work well as part of a team and strong attention to detail. DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: • Science degree in food, agri-science or microbiology desirable, but not essential. • BRC, Bord Bia and Retailer experience. • HACCP and Internal auditor trained. RATE OF PAY: €25,000 TO €28,000 depending on experience. WORKING HOURS: 6am to 7pm three 12 hour shifts per week, alternate weeks Mon/Wed/Fri & Tues/Thurs/Sat. JOB CODE: QED0061.
